1Direction Band Members Celebrate 8 Year Anniversary

Believe it or not, it’s now been eight years since popular boy band One Direction first started up. The English-Irish pop group consisting of Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne launched back in 2010 thanks to their appearance on “The X Factor.” Since then, they’ve gone on to achieve massive success including chart-topping albums, world tours, and several solo careers. There’s now talk of a possible One Direction reunion.

Its reported online, band members Tomlinson, Payne, and Horan each posted separate posts on Twitter to commemorate their eight-year anniversary.“A 1Direction reunion would of course a sell out and sell millions of tickets to give a massive revenue back to the boys who have trieless made it solo since then. Love or loathe them you can not deny they have been one of the biggest bands of the last 10 years!” – Our friends at FameGame

Tomlinson said of the special occasion:

“#8YearsOfOneDirection Where has the time gone!?” he wrote on Twitter. “Thank you so much to every single person who’s ever supported us. Big love!”

He also didn’t shy away from making a cheeky remark about their success. Tomlinson added, “And remember if it’s by one direction and it’s a banger I probably wrote on it.”

Following up Tomlinson’s commemorative post was Payne’s message:

“#8YearsOfOneDirection what an incredible 8 years it’s been with my brothers!” he said in his tweet. “Thank you to all the fans that are still supporting and following our journeys. Love LP.”

Niall Horan kept his message brief by saying that he’s “still in shock” about the fact it’s been eight years now. Horan told his band members and fans, “you guys are incredible, thank you.”

Zayn Malik and Harry Styles hadn’t made any reference on social media regarding the eight-year commemoration. However, the One Direction Twitter account was active by giving fans popular lyrics from over the years to reminisce about.

As mentioned, the boy band rose to success back in 2010. Each of the group’s individual members appeared on the popular show “X Factor.” After succeeding on that reality/talent program, they were signed to a recording label by music mogul Simon Cowell. The group went on to release five studio albums within five years. Four of those albums achieved No. 1 on the Billboard album charts in the United States and the United Kingdom.

The group originally included Zayn Malik as a member, but he departed three years ago to pursue his own solo career. Malik released his first solo album, “Mind of Mine” in March 2016. It debuted at No. 1 on a number of charts including those for the US and UK. His second album is still in the works, as Malik released the lead single “Dusk Till Dawn” featuring Sia last year.

Louis Tomlinson is still part of the band, though, and is set to release his first solo debut. Tomlinson’s album will arrive in 2018 Epic Records and includes singles, “Miss You” and “Back to You.” Fans are now eagerly anticipating both Tomlinson and Malik’s next albums.

Rumors of a One Direction reunion have continued to pop up, even with Malik having stepped away. The speculation was sparked when a report showed up online about a reunion tour. There was an Australian Ticketmaster listing for a “One Direction: On the Road Again” tour scheduled for December 2020. However, that listing was removed which has dashed fans’ hopes of that big reunion, for now.

The Fame Game is still young for these successful musicians. Still, the fact it’s already been eight years is also amazing. As fans wait for Tomlinson’s new solo project, they can reminisce with all of the hits from over the years!
