Fin de Siècle - Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood

Owing much to the insular work of William Blake and the German Nazarenes, this group of anti-materialists pursued in their work a visionary idealism and ambiguity of space. They would have a profound influence on the French Symbolists as well as all decorative arts in England during the second half of the 19th century, inspiring the Art Nouveau movement. The original Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood was chiefly active in the early 1850's.
